Testimonials

I was introduced to Doug Clark's work at a seminar he hosted in Wellsboro, PA. I was impressed with his experience. I had gone to meetings hosted by natural gas companies in the past. No mention of potential pitfalls were brought to my attention.  After the seminar, I was better prepared to talk with a land man.  I knew what I wanted for the future of my land.

After weeks of attempting negotiations with a landman, I could see I needed someone with more experience on my side. The negotiations were not going well.  The other side did not want to budge on terms in the contract.  This was problematic because the terms could hold the land in a non-producing state.  I thought of the seminar that Doug Clark hosted. With his help, my contract with the natural gas companies is solid.  I hope more businesses and families in the area will hire The Clark Law Firm for the negotiation process.

 - Chris Montgomery, A Tioga County Landowner

Several years ago in signing our lease for the gas company, unrepresented, we vowed we would never sign anything without the guidance of an attorney. We were approached for a gathering line and started our search for guidance. We found Doug through a neighbor and after expressing our concerns and worries, Doug was able to draw up addendums, which eased our minds to safety, environment, and liability. Our questions were answered in a timely manner and if it was not Doug answering , it was Marcia. With so much change with the gas exploration, we found Doug to be on top of changes, and going that extra mile to find answers. We would not hesitate to contact them concerning any kind of pipeline concerning the gas exploration in the future.

- Bradford County Landowner

Doug Clark was my attorney through all the legal negotiations for my gas lease and for my pipeline agreement, and now he has assisted me with a Water Line Agreement.

It was necessary for Mr. Clark to completely write up the water line agreement and I was able to obtain a satisfactory payment from the company when I signed the agreement.

Although it may seem that legal assistance is not necessary for a temporary water line, I feel that Mr. Clark’s representation ensured that I obtained the optimum payment and agreement which I could have received.

I recommend him for this legal service.

- A Bradford County, North-eastern Pennsylvania Landowner

Doug Clark has come through again for me. He negotiated my gas lease with success and now, having been approached by a pipeline company, I turned to Doug for help. My pipeline agent seemed relatively straightforward, not like the well people, but I still felt I needed help with the easement. Doug presented many addenda which tightened up the easement and improved the situation for me and my heirs. Since pipelines will be with us for many years to come, I did not want to saddle my children with little leverage and difficult circumstances in the future. Doug responded promptly, and clearly had our best interest in mind. He provided the proper wording for our document to give me more peace of mind as we approach the greatest land disturbance our property has  seen in over 50 years of our family owning it.

PA Gas Leasing Poll

As a landowner do you favor a "Severence Tax" based on production volume or an "Impact Fee" based on the number of wells drilled?
Whether and how Pennsylvania should tax the natural gas industry remains a hotly debated issue:
Severance Tax - with revenue shared with the entire state. (11 votes)
Severance Tax - with the majority or all revenue directed to counties impacted by drilling. (22 votes)
Impact Fee - with revenue shared with the entire state. (0 votes)
Impact Fee - with the majority or all revenue directed to counties impacted by drilling. (12 votes)
I favor no severance tax or impact fee. (10 votes)
